
Dr. Ioannis Samaras is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Organizational Management, Marketing and Tourism of the International Hellenic University, with research interests in Accounting and Finance.
He holds a BA in Accounting (TEI of Thessaloniki, 2005), a Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance (University of Southampton, 2007), and a PhD in Financial Accounting (University of Macedonia, 2013), with research interests focused on International Accounting Standards and Financial Statement Analysis.
From 2008 to 2021 he taught in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the departments of Accounting & Finance, Marketing, Logistics and Tourism Management at the TEI of Thessaloniki and Serres, while in 2017 he collaborated with the Hellenic Open University as a Collaborating Educational Staff. From 2010 to 2025 he served as a Lecturer at the University of Derby (United Kingdom), through an approved collaborating educational institution in Greece, teaching in the Business Administration and International Hospitality Management programs.
He also has professional experience, as the owner of an accounting-tax office (2006–2015) and as a financial manager of a touristic business. He is a member of the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce as a Class A Accountant since 2006. His research work includes publications in international scientific journals and conferences with referees, and he has served as a reviewer in the Journal of Accounting and Management Information Systems and the American Journal of Applied Sciences. His interests focus on Financial Accounting, International Accounting Standards, Financial Statement Analysis and Financial Management.
