Dr Panagiotis Kassianidis

Associate Professor in the Department of Management Organizations Marketing and Tourism  at the Faculty of Economics and Administration at the International Hellenic University (University of Sindos).

Born in Thessaloniki, he completed his undergraduate studies at the Alexander University of Thessaloniki, Department of Tourism Business (1988), pursuing his second MBA degree at the University of Leicester UK, (1995) and οobtained his doctoral dissertation, which led a Doctoral Degree at the University of South Bank, UK (2004).

Dr Kassianidis started his private sector career in the aviation industry, immediately after obtaining his undergraduate degree; posted at key positions in airline ticketing, organization, operation and service business, duties that very soon led him to the position of Director, at one of the three globally managing enterprises in ticketing operations, the AMADEUS HELLAS SA GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS in Northern Greece, based in Thessaloniki.

Following a brilliant career in the private sector for more than a decade, Dr  Kassianidis accepted the position of Professor of Applications in the Department of Tourism Operations at the Alexander Technological University  of Thessaloniki, where he followed the evolution to the level of Associate Professor, through teaching and a rich research and managing programs project, mainly on the role, function and importance of air transport and tourist management, as well as the evolution of the tourism management sector through innovative approaches.

He is a member of academic and scientific organizations (ATLAS, BATER, EUROCHRIE, I SMM etc), professional organizations (IATA, UFTAA), with original scientific publications and articles at international conferences and tourism magazines and books, while continuing his academic career in European programs (ASSUR-MAYANET European exchange programs, the ERASMUS MUNDUS, ERASMUS +, Internships etc.)

Dr Kassianidis’ main axis of teaching and research activity is the evolution of Air Transport and Tourism Management through the 20th century tourism and travel development, with mainly focus on «combining theoretical knowledge with  practice», aiming at a better professional rehabilitation of those involved in tourism studies.
