Dr George Skoufas

Georgios Skoufas is a faculty member of the Department of Organisation Management, Marketing and Tourism at the rank of Associate Professor at the International University of Greece. He is a graduate of the University of Liège (Belgium) (ULG) in the Department of Biology, Majoring in Zoology (Ethology). His master’s degree is in Oceanology (ULG). His doctoral thesis was prepared at the ULG university, with parts of it implemented at the Musée d’histoire Naturelle (Paris, France), the University of Vienna (Austria) and the AUTh (Thessaloniki, Greece). He is a diving instructor with two diving organizations, CMAS and PADI, and has participated in various research projects and expeditions that included the autonomous diving component (SCUBA), underwater mapping and underwater photography and observation. His academic subject is “Protected Marine Plant and Animal Organisms”. His research interests are oriented towards topics such as

  • diving tourism
  • creation of new diving products
  • ecological impacts on the marine environment from marine tourism activities
  • tourism and natural environment
  • citizen science
